I stand behind Batteries Plus, both online and their retail stores. I have had NOTHING but positive experiences and thoroughly enjoy talking to the employees at these stores. They are knowledgeable and I have had a great time brainstorming with them.

The links below are just a few power supplies that I feel would work the best for cutting NiChrome Wire. But keep in mind that you can always search the website for more battery capacity (Ah, or Amp-hours) to fit your needs.

With a 2.7 ohm circuit, this battery will provide enough power for over 2 hours.
This resistance is equivalent to 26g NiCr Wire, at about 1 foot, and should heat to 660°F / 350°C

When it comes to choosing a high power battery, there are basically two voltage rating to choose from but a ton of different capacities. Your options in fixed voltage are 6 volts & 12 volts.

Most applications only require 6 volts, but 12 volts will give you much more length on your cutting wire. But if you use 12 volts, and intend on switching between devices, just know that you’ll have more voltage to account for when using a resistor.

Keep in mind that the rating for Amp-hours pertains to both duration and intensity of the battery output. Now, each battery will limit the output amperage to some extent but consider this example to describe the relationship of Amp-hours :

6V / 12Ah

This battery can supply 6 output volts, which is constant


The output amperage will depend upon the resistance of your circuit, but the battery can supply :

12 amps for 1 hour

or

1 amp for 12 hours

or

2 amps for 6 hours

etc..

I am a little less familiar with this company, but have found a variety of batteries listed on their website. It would appear that they are all very similar to the Werker Batteries listed above, and might be a cost effective alternative for some.
