Amongst the RC wing cutting community, some have moved away from nichrome wire as their main cutting wire for a variety of reasons. There are some other non-traditional wire types, but the stainless steel fishing wire has become a fan favorite amongst many forums and members of the wing cutting community.

As you would imagine, there is little to no published data on the electrical requirements of stainless steel wire as there are for nichrome wire, so some level of experimentation is necessary.

But the general consensus is that you can apply the same electrical theory and similar power supplies.
